I just purchased a 1999 Kia sportage with a 4cyl,, It is a 4 speed auto trans. When I push the Power/Economy Mode Switch. It starts to light the indicator light on the dash but when I let go off this the light goes out. Do you no what I need to do to check this out for a problem. I figure the switch must be recieving power as the light does come on as long as I hold the switch in. Any help would be appreciated thank you Huffy

As long as the check engine light isn't coming on you should be ok. There is 2 different modes, on gives you more power but not as good of gas mileage. The other you'll get the best fuel economy.

The light is to let you know what mode it's in.

It's not a warning light of some type is it?

No it is not a warning light or any thing like that. The car runs fine I was just trying to figure out how to test the system to see why the power light wouldn't stay on when I pressed it. Thanks for your input Huffy47
