Power Steering Sign In

Am I correct in the fact that the power steering resevoir should never be agitating ( air in the system )
This is a 2006 nissan maxima and can this cause somewhat of a whining noise

There would likely be some movement noticed if opened with engine running. Noise if properly filled NO. If it was run low that could have caused damage that wouldn't always correct just by fixing a leak and filling it up again,

Agitating and air in the system don't mean the same thing. If you see white foam, that would indicate air. There will always be movement.
