Radiator Leak - breathe fumes?? Sign In

Our old '94 Lincoln Continental has a radiator leak (tried Stop Leak to no avail), and we're trying to get by another month until we get another vehicle. In the meantime, I'm filling the overflow reservoir with a'freeze once a week but about the 5th day my head starts feeling weird after driving it, along with a feeling of "vapors" in my throat and I swear I can even smell a hot radiator when in the house!

I've researched this a bit and haven't found anything like my problem - is it possible for a'freeze fumes to come up into the car while I'm driving and I'm breathing them in? It sounds crazy but I don't have the symptoms right after I've filled the overflow.

Thanks for any help on this!

Are you sure its the radiator leaking ? Even if it is you may have another leak............The heater core . Pull back the carpet on front pass side and check for dampness and a sweet smell . With the eng run till cooling system pressurized , check where the a/c evap drains . Look for coolant coming out . If either is a yes, being that spring is around the corner (it was 85 here today) buy a bypass splicer ,undo hoses at firewall and hook together.

I would also back off the stop leak. You will cause more problems than you fix with that stuff.
