I am in the process of potentially purchasing a 2019 RAM Promaster 2500 159wb with 48k miles and need some advice. I located the vehicle in September at a place in New Hampshire, called, and expressed interest. The sales guy told me that while the vehicle was part of their sales inventory, it was at a different lot and being made “sale ready” but assured me that it would be on reserve for me until it was ready. I assumed this would take maybe a couple weeks. Nearly 2 months later, I finally got a call last week and he told me it’s ready to go. I took a look at the Carfax, and it appears that sometime after we started communicating, the vehicle went in and had the Right and/or front axles replaced. Does this sound like a red flag to anyone or is this kind of repair acceptable at this mileage? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Here is a link to the Carfax: https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?partner=DEY_0&vin=3C6TRVDG1KE523150

The truck may have had issues that prospective buyer were objecting to so they were forced to fix them. I wouldn't be as much concerned about the repairs it needed than to the lack of transparency by the dealer. I'm also a bit confused with the locations of the vehicle. You appear to be in New Jersey but the vehicle has been in Conn, New Hampshire and MA. It's been bounced around a lot. I would check it pretty closely for rust damage. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You probably won't get many answers. Dealer rarely know anything about vehicle histories unless it was owned by one of their customers.

? I'm in MA the middle of these 3 potentially rusty states. Know if you are in NJ you should know what rust is about. Less if in NH but use of "rock salt" is in very high use you don't ever clear lumps of it out, wash it off effectively if you want this type vehicle should want to see it in person along with a body shop Hooksett is fine not far from me. Who owns a vehicle that short a time and dumps it? It involves these states by registrations? Just how and why - IDK. I'd pass it's also taking too long to be ready but hard to guess with shutdowns, labor if only axles (why?) and clean it up? That help could be real trouble to find is the reason. Can you find anything else like it that suggests more privately owned I really don't get it for this. Lost with it and why. Pandemic of area shut things down and a cargo carrying machine was use by what or who to do the miles? Pass - find something ready if possible not New England if you want it for years on end more, Tom
