Hw do you take the rivets off of the 1972 GMC 1500 lens on the (front) parking lights so you can change the bulb and replace worn amber lens with clear?

1972 should have phillips head screws. If rivited, someone has stripped the screw holes out.

Thanks for the reply, but the screws are the only parts that attach to the lower front of the truck; the rivets is what keeps the lens and housing unit together. This is for my 1972 GMC (parts for 67-72 GMC), NOT for a 71-72 Chevy! These parts are not interchangeable and are completely different. Sorry,m but ur answer is wrong. if it were Chevy parts then yes, ud be correct and then id be able to take it a part. They are completely different lens and diff parking lights. My question was how to remove the rivets... Thanks anyhow!

CH is my older car, truck & best route thru a dry county expert I always defer to. But to answer your rivet question. With any rivet there is 2 basic ways to remove them. 1. If you have the space, it to get a sharp chisel & cut the end off it. 2. If you don't have the room on either end, you drill the center out of it, pilot it with a small bit and then use one the size of the tube. Once that is drill out, both heads will fall off.....

Fantastic! Thank yo so much! I had no clue as to what to do.Couldnt pry it and from the looks of it, when it does come apart...cant reuse rivets, so i will definitely drill then out. Thanks again.
