Shimming at highway speeds Sign In

Hi all - I have a 2006 Pontiac Vibe AWD with approx. 94,000 miles on it, I think it's a 1.8L motor. It has been a very reliable car. I have noticed it (steering wheel) shimmies back and forth when I'm on the highway running between 60 and 70 and higher. It doesn't do it at lower speeds. It does not do it when I'm braking either. Any suggestions other than bringing it to a mechanic? Thanks for the help. Roger

first thought is wheel/tire balance.

Ditto w Kev2 - tire balance but would go to a place that knows all the other possible things especially if this just came on. Not all just tire places might catch it if not just a tire/wheel and the balance,
