Re: Transmission Tune up Sign In

TIA; I don't believe that the transmission pans on this model have drain plugs. You'll need a LARGE drain pan, remove the pan on the trans, replace the filter, and refill. And, expect to get fluid all over you.

Re: Transmission Tune up Sign In

Finding a drain plug in a trans pan is as rare as a left handed screwdriver.

Re: Transmission Tune up Sign In

None of that info really looks correct. There weren't any Saturns in 87 and most of the early ones were 1.9

The drain plug is on the left side at the bottom. Since those don't have pans the trans filter looks just like an engine oil filter & changes out the same way.

Re: Transmission Tune up Sign In

as the previous replier stated, there is a drain plug next to the axle on the lower corner of the transaxlem and then the filer is a screw on much like a diesel or an oil filter located below the air filter housing

Re: Transmission Tune up Sign In

Either this is not a US car or the info given is wrong as the poster pointed out, there is no 87 Saturn for US.
Actually, we are all assuming this is an automatic and likely a 97, I guess it could be a manual trans.
