Trunk Lock 88 Olds 88

I needed to replace the trunk lock cylinder on my '88 Olds 88; the key broke off and before I received the car the owner had the lock drilled out. I have the new lock cylinder and it is now coded to my key. What I need to know is how to get the parts together properly. The cylinder goes in where it is supposed to okay; the part that goes between the lock and the striker plate (proper name?) is where I have problems. This part is straight and flat where it contacts the striker plate, the other end is crooked and has a loose coil spring which I cannot figure where it goes. Not difficult probably, just don't know how to put it together. Do I have to remove the striker plate at all, or can this be replaced otherwise? My handy (?) Haynes manual doesn't help. 5-23: Got the lock in properly - at least it works okay! I need to put larger pop rivets in, but at least now I'm able to lock and unlock the trunk.
