VW Beetle imobiliser light flashing

VW Beetle imobiliser light flashing Sign In
The car ran fine yesterday during the day. Went to move it last night, and the car fired up then died. The immobiliser light is now flashing on the dash board.
I have tried both keys, and the same happens with both keys. The car just ticks over but does not fire up.
I have had the local garage out to it and it is not the battery, and they cant help me until Wednesday,

Could it be the cold weather?
