I bought this car from an auction but I'm having second thoughts about it. I'm attaching 3 pics of the damage. Can someone tell me what'll it take to fix it? Will the gas tank need to be replaced because of the damage to the side? The right rear wheel - does it look like a $600+ repair? I know I should have inspected it first, which I didn't. All help will be appreciated. Thanks. . .

This is going to be expensive. That right rear wheel hanging at the angle it is shows definate major damage to suspension components. You don't hit a car hard enough to do that without frame damage. A frame shop could tell you how bad the damage is only after inspection of the car. Its definately going to be well over the $600 mark to get this one back on the road. I hope you got a hell of a deal on it.

You bought it at an auction but you have no idea what it will take to fix it? I can't begin to tell you how many ways that is wrong. We can't tell you what it will take to fix it. You need to get a few local estimates and see where they differ. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thanks for the replies. I know I made a mistake of not checking it out in person before bidding. When I initially saw it, I figured it'll probably be a $2,000 repair. After winning it, I had second thoughts. I'm now thinking if its going to cost me more than $2,500, I'd rather take a hit on the deposit than try and fix it.

Are you kidding? You may have a real big shock. You have no idea how much structural damage or suspension damage it may have. Just a quick look shows it will likely need most of a rear clip sectioned in. I wouldn't be surprised to see that car have $7,000 in damage or more.

If it was only $2500 in damage the insurance company would've fixed it instead of sending it off to auction. This has basket case written all over it
