Camry pegs for no reason	Sign In

My 2003 Camry temp gauge pegs frequently and I can't figure out why. Replaced temperature gauge, pressure tested system, flushed system and put in a new radiator cap. Still does it. Usually happens after 20 - 30 min. town driving, but it varies. Any ideas as to what to look at next?

Are fan(s) coming on? How does radiator look and how much junk came out when flushed? Some junk wont flush out.

Is it really overheating or a false reading that you can tell? Infrared thermo on t--stat would tell. If really overheating none of these like that much,

Ok,
The fans don't ever come on, I used some of the do it your self flush, it came out clear.
When I drove yesterday it was normal for 15 miles,then it pegged on H, I turned the heater on, no hot air, after 5 minutes it dropped to normal range and started blowing hot air???

Boiling coolant won't throw any heat from heater. Needs hot liquid and be truly full.

This may already be putting combustion gasses in cooling system thru bad head gaskets so would check for that. That will let a car overheat fast if so,

Oops - you said fans never come on which is a problem all by itself too and would cause overheating by itself,
