brake caliper sticking?? Sign In

i have a 97 toyota 4runner 4wd v6 limited. im having a problem with the right front wheel. every morning when i put car in drive hte right front brake sticks. when i stop it stick and i have to drop into reverse then back into drive without touching the brake, then it rolls fine. to fix this i replaced the wheel caliper and thought i was good to go for two days only. this morning it started again. is new calipher bad, or am i looking at somthing more in the front drivetrain, or master cylinder? any help would be in your debt. thank you

First of all, you should never replace only one caliper. Everything done on the front brakes should always be done in pairs.

I would replace the other caliper and both front flex hoses. those are the 2 things that commonly cause that. Also make sure you didn't rotate the caliper and twist the brake hose when you installed it.

Just went through a sticking driver side caliper on 1995 Chevy Truck. Replaced caliper, still sticking but a little better. replaced master cylinder - no change. read about flex brake line on this site and tried that - Bingo! brake flex line was not allowing brake caliper to release. replaced flex line and problem resolved.
