can a fuel pump relay fail intermittently? Sign In

Hello everyone

I recently bought a used 02 Pontiac Aztek, and have been having some intermittent issues with it starting up. Its always cranks, but sometimes won't turn over, I've narrowed it down to the fuel system not getting gas when it starts, but I don't want to have to replace the fuel pump if I don't need to. I know a fuel pump can fail intermittently but can a fuel pump relay do the same? Any advice would be helpful.

It's possible but not real likely. Fuel pumps are far more common. They also have a lot of problems with the connectors at the tank.

I once had a pump realy that would fail intermittently when hot. It only cost me $20 to put in a new one. Why not try that first.

They can. Sometimes if tapped with something like the handle of a screwdriver they'll get you going but if that works it's still bad. If stuck and easy enough if same exact relay only swap it with the A/C relay to get to a place to get a new one fast,
