Does anyone know whats going on i have a skoda fabia elegance 1.4l 2005 100k miles on the clock So the other week was driving home the epc light and the engine light come on and another light was flicking on and off between the fuel gauge then the car went into limp mode and would not go over 40mph so pulled over and the engine revs were plusing put the throttle down and nothing. So turned the engine off left it for a few seconds turned it back on revs when back to normal but the epc light and engine light stayed on but car worked fine took it right to the mechanic he read the codes and checked it over and said everything looked ok and said maybe it was a one off cleared the codes all was well. Over the next week or so the engine light and epc light would come on but the car would run fine and the lights went off after a while so fort nothing of it as other days there would be no lights at all. Till today driving home and the very same spot on the road where it went into limp mode before done it again with the same thing even pulled over in the same place as before. The codes were fault one 16524:035 o2 sensor circ,bank1-sensor2 no activity detected fault two was 17961:035 altitude sensor signal/intake manifold pressure implausible ratio fault three was 17912:035 air intake system leak detected. Any help would be great seems the mechanic is lost too.

We don't have that car here in the US so we have no specific info on it but the codes are giving you things to check out to see if you can spot the problem with either the intake system or the MAP sensor which also operates off vacuum. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

As HT said, we don't have this car over here so there is no help for us in our databases. That being said, it is rare for a car to have 3 or more sperate circuit failures (codes) at the same time (unless it was hit by lightening) ;). So usually when you have 3 or more codes, there is something common to all 3 causing the problem. It is possible to have 2 problems. You could have a vacuum leak & a bad O2 or a bad O2 causing the lean & possible map codes. The 1st thing he would want to do is look at the fuel trims at low & high speeds to see where the lean problem is. If the O2 is stuck lean (no activity code) then if he does a "propane enrichment test", this will test for a bad O2 even with a vacuum leak or false air problem (within reason) If he isn't familar with these, there is a ton of help on "how to" on youtube.
