check engine light Sign In

i have a 2001 chevy express van .v-6 4.3L engine. the check engine light keeps coming after resetting the computer. I have bought a new gas cap , a new purge valve solenoid and had a smoke test done and a pressure test with a constant 1 lb of presure thruout the system . Any new ideaUnsures would be helpfull Thanks ,Don

P0446 means the computer has detected a blockage or restriction in the EVAP system. It's not a leak code.

While the engine is running the PCM can test for a blockage or restriction by commanding the purge valve open and the vent valve open. The PCM expects to see no vacuum building up in the tank. If it does, the PCM suspects there is a blockage or the vent valve isn't opening. Don't be surprised if you have a problem with the vent valve.

You need to command the purge valve open while the engine is running and monitor the fuel tank vacuum with a scan tool. Verify if there is indeed a problem. If so, you need to check for blockages in the system.
