chevy cavalier want start

chevy cavalier want start Sign In

my car will not start. it is a 99 chevy cavalier. Put a new fuel filter on. The fuel pump is working. IT will crand but just want start. Can anyone help?

Gotta check whether spark or fuel problem. If you hear the fuel pump buzz and shut off in just "run" position it's probably ok.

After that you need to know about whether it has spark which could be a host of different problems but folks here will try, T

Thanks, now how do I check If I have spark. I would like to do this myself If I can. I have no one to help me. Thanks bunches and cute kitty!!

You need to start with doing the following. Install a fuel pressure guage on the test port, install a spark tester in one of the plug wires, and install a noid light in one of the injector connectors. Crank engine over. A running engine will have spark and the noid light will flash. You need to see which system(s) are not working. Try this and post back with what you find and we can proceed from there. Also, post back with the fuel pressure reading.
