I have been working on my 96 civic to get to the water pump. Is the crankshaft pulley bolt reverse threaded or no? I have used a impact hammer on it and it doesn't move.

It's right-hand. There's a special tool for holding the pulley and breaking the bolt loose. Not sure, it may be available for rent at some parts stores.

If it’s a manual transmission car, stick it in 1st gear and have someone stand on the breakes, while you use a breaker bar to loosen the bolt.
If it’s an automatic pull the starter motor and jam a bar or large screwdriver into the flywheel that should hole the engine to get that bolt loose, and like motorheadII said the bolt is right hand thread.
