computer chip key

just bought a 2001 mitzubishi galant es.They lost the key and unfortunately tore out the ignition ,to turn the mechinism whith a screw driver. It has not started since. I can repace the switch and new key, i dont think the steering colum is dameged. So the question is ,the new key will have a new chip.How do i get the keys chip to sync with the cars system?

That car does not have a theft deterrent. You shouldn't have to do anything.
