coolant leaking Sign In

I have a 1996 Ford club wagon van. There is a large puddle of coolant in my driveway. It appeard to be coming from 1 or 2 pipes underneath the chassis. What are these pipes for and is this a major $ amount to fix? Thanks

If the van has rear heat, it is probably one of the heater hoses going to the rear heater. Need to address the leak right away. The coolant is coming from the radiator, so can cause overheating due to loss of coolant. Depends on what is leaking as to the cost, of course...But, regardless, will be a whole lot cheaper to fix now that later after the engine overheats.

Thank you for your reponce. I have already put about 1,500 into repairs this year. Not sure if replacing the 2 pipes from front to rear would be worth it. The rear heater does't work anyway.
Thanks again

$1500.00 is nothing when it comes to replacing an engine, especially if due to negligence.Unsure You must find the source of the leak and have it repaired. The rear heater can be bypassed, if that's what you desire, but you must stop the leak. Pay me now, or pay me later.Pirate

Ditto: If $$ is an issue bypass the rear heater. Almost no cost to do that if you DIY. You can't ignore this wherever the leak is you need to stop it or it will stop YOU,

Wink
Oh come on! Even from from the wild wild west you've heard of that tune!

"Beans, beans, they're good for your heart - the more you eat the more you phart"

Not sure where the phrase "Cool Beans" came from. Probably no heat left but it's local lingo! Smile - trust me - there's enough "phart smellers" to go around in this area! OK: Forgive me - sometimes I get my 'mords wixed'Wink I can barely read the local 'pews naper' either!
