How do you find the source of a coolant leak?

Actually my van might of burst coolant rather than a slow leak. I came home to find the engine smoking by the exhaust manifold area, checked the fluids and found the coolant reservoir empty. On the same side as the reservoir there was coolant all over, on the side of the engine, on the radiator, all over the reservoir, even on top and around the left side headlight....It seemed to more blow open and shoot everywhere....The engine never showed it was over heating on the gauges.

The coolant cap and the waterpump was dry as a bone. It didnt appear to happen on that side. There is a little coolant on the radiator fan, there is a little coolant on the exhaust manfold area, but the majority of it seems to be around the reservoir.

Im attempting to do this repair at home.

You fill it back up and pressure test the cooling system
