the engine light was on... you should have fixed that issue...you have NO idea if anything else is wrong until you SCAN the system. You say the vehicle is drivable after a charge? SO charge it up and drive to autozone, advance auto etc, take advantage of their FREE scan and alternator tests.... Or you could check the voltage at battery, start vehicle the voltage should increase. Not a complete test but a start. Once you get ALL the codes post them here someone will advise AND repair that oxygen sensor !! get the light OFF.

? Battery light. Did it with old and new alternator you said but not for a while with charged battery. Just that not the CEL is the belt tight enough? That alone if not tight could be that whole deal, T

What does that have to do with code readings? Understood - some of those locations are insane to get to or R&R but you may have to. Get code readings first as if you take battery in for testing without a memory saver any codes will be lost and only the hard codes will come right back. Because of the location it means even more to check it out there IMO as you probably don't do anything to ever check or clean it up where that type are. Haven't had the fun with the one you describe by location but several others are a pest too up to breaking things to get to them or take out. If not up to that yourself say so please. Sorry if I missed it but is the belt tight enough? You shouldn't be able to turn alternator while belt installed by hand, engine off and keys out please for a test or deflection of the longest stretch between pulleys. If alternator slips when enough electrical power is being used a light could come on for battery and usually go right out again or could be intermittent. Get the code reading. It shouldn't matter where the battery is located if they have a clue, T

Why did you assume it needed an alternator for the battery light, or even a battery for that matter? That light is no indication of battery health. Are you aware that the voltage regulator is built into the PCM? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
