This car not sold to the US where most regulars are so quite limited for help here for this. Is the warning light a code light or telling you of low oil level or what? Perhaps find out more local to you from a shop if it can be fixed closer or find out just what you need before a trip like that not knowing what it might take and wait! T

Thanks for the very quick reply - Missed it was a US based website talked to some people this morning - and basically as i have a code reader , which said no codes , then its unlikely they will find any stored codes - if there was a stored code , they could find more info. but they cannot see the car until tuesday my local garage suggests it maybe a sensor and if it just comes on/off its going to be difficult to isolate without the codes and if the car seems to run OK it may go into limp mode while the light is on -so maybe a small lose of power ,but that is not due to fault - just due to the limp mode so basically sounds like I need to wait for a breakdown or a fault code thanks again

Couldn't guess what code reading device you have or if it's capable of all codes possible? Just know that a code should only be telling of a circuit with a problem not exactly to replace a part but that it isn't working within perimeters. It might default for assorted reasons? I just don't know. Many "stored" codes will be reset and info lost too for a while by simply disconnecting negative cable of battery for a while. AYOR as you could lose important stored info OR car may not run so well for a while trying to relearn settings. Can't know especially for a vehicle not sold to the US. Not necessarily a US only site at all it just kind of ended up near all US and Canada which are about the same cars and info. Assorted places don't have to meet the specs of vehicles sold here so things can be all different, T

D900 Booked into a repair centre in Devon on Monday to read the codes - they say as the engine light was on for more that a minute - the codes should be recorded mine sees nothing But all the live readings are working - so it can see something on the engine i have just looked at the EGR valve and some of the flaps and WD40 - that sorted it out last time also about 30K miles ago,i removed the manifold and cleaned it all out and the EGR valve thanks again for the help and advice

These lights HERE are called different things and or just icons. What they mean is MIL or "Malfunction Indicator Light" that is watching up to 100s of items to do with operation, emissions, transmissions shifting properly (auto trans mostly) something too hot, too cold - goes on forever mostly an engine with some item out of spec up to plain bad reports to engine's computer controls so it lets you know. Generally blinking means more troubles and find it quick. They can remember after they have been off for just so many cycles (here) if a problem went away in so many start ups, cool downs and miles. Hope your trip doesn't clear it out as you want to know. More: Get the code # not just a suggestion of what it is like a part as it could be a loose connection, lousy plug in line somewhere or something disconnected and part is fine! If they find the source problem or item(s) while there I suggest let them fix it at that far away! If something wildly expensive talk out how to handle that so you don't have to go all that way back or I would. Some things just silly. Check for loose gas cap, intake air snorkeling intact or anything disconnected showing the other end nearby. Good luck. Loooog ride for a fix to be wrong about anything and have to hope it's clearly found, part(s) available as needed or clear diagnosis for another shop closer to you for when part(s) are available......... That or guess you make a vacation out of that trip! T
