flat tire question Sign In

I drove about 3/10 of a mile last nite on a right rear flat at very slow speeds...got home today and plugged it, holds air just fine...there is a groove in the sidewall, not real bad(maybe it is?) to me, you can see and feel it though.no other apparent damage. maybe 2/32 deep...is this a real problem? does it need immediate replacement, etc? thank you.

"DRIVEN FLAT 3/10th MILE" - That says it all and the tire really can't be trusted again IMO. VERY few tires can take that without damage and it's the damage you don't see that will cause the issues - sidewalls may separate at any time having been pinched like it would.

I'd toss it but go ahead and have it inspected from inside if you really think it has a chance,

I agree with Tom. driving on a flat tire destroys the sidewall construction/strength. If you came out and found a flat in your driveway then that would have been a different story.

its not worth a highway tire-blow out and collision to save on a questionable tire
