front brake dilemas

this problem relates to a 99 hyundai atoz while investigating a grinding front disk brake problem, i found that the outer of the two brake pads was totally worn after only one year of relatively low use. the inner pad was looking very good like it should. does anyone know what can cause this to happen? also whilst i had the caliper swung up, i noticed the piston didnt shoot out like ive seen others do. so i decided to pump the brake pedal, this was a bad mistake as the piston popped right out. so again i'd be greatful for any advice. ive popped it back in im just wondering whether this and bleeding the system will be sufficient a repair from this point onwards. many thanks

The initial problem could have been that the caliper was sticking where it slides on either pins or otherwise. If a piston popped out it could have been nicked so careful inspection is called for and I'd suggest new seals. Bleeding the system is mandatory in this case as it was exposed to air getting in, T
