I have a 1968 GTO with a fuel gauge problem. When I turn the starter switch to the first stop the gauge pointer show a full tank. When the key is turned to start the engine and the engine is running the gauge pointer goes beyond the full mark and can not be seen. Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks

Hmmm? Can you just unplug it at the tank and see if it still does this? If so there would be a short in the sender wire. Also: Does this gauge have a full circle path for the needle? If so it may have jumped to 180 degrees off and reads properly but at the bottom and out of sight. Back when I used to put a small "stop" (black toothpick) like thing that would prevent that. PITA but can be done, T
