fuel gauge problem -Altima 2001

Hello,
I have Altima 2001. I ran over deer carcass and it scratched the bottom of the car. After the accident everything seems to work fine except fuel gauge. It initially jumped about 1/4 of the scale and seemed to go up and down when I refueled/drove. Now after I refueled full tank it is stuck at the top after 300 miles.
What can be a problem? Any advice very much appreciated.

Probably needs a new tank sending unit.
