fuel pump fuse blows

2001 lincoln navigator 5.7 110,000 had cranking issures found out after looking today that fuel pump fuse was blown.. so i replace the fuel pump fuse and when i go to crank it blows.. i didnt change the fuel pump relay fuse. should i have changed that to.. any feedback would be great

Does the fuse blow as soon as you install it? Blow when the key is turned on? Blows when the engine starts to crank? All these can lead to different possible causes. Was it the little 20 amp fuse under the hood? If so, that controls the current to the fuel pump relay. I might be temped to switch the fuel pump relay with another relay of the same size and configuration to see if it starts. If it does, replace the relay. If it does not, you need to look at wiring going to and including the fuel pump. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
