I have a 2002 Saturn Vue AWD V6,have a valve cover gasket leak--do I really have to release any pressure from any system or remove any thing that might not be able to do @ home----I have plenty of tools & but never had a saturn before----heard they are a bitch to work on,so could this be simple like most cars?I have tried looking online manuals but no luck for just valve cover gasket replacement..thx

3.0L Engine

You did not state which v-6 I took a guess and gave instructons
for the 3.0

Before servicing any vehicle, please be sure to read the precautions section, which deals with personal safety, prevention of component damage, and important points to take into consideration when servicing a motor vehicle.
  1. Remove the camshaft cover bolts.
  2. Remove the camshaft cover.
NOTE Ensure that all 8 sealing O-rings are accounted for. O-rings may stick to camshaft bearing caps. O-rings may fall into the oil return journals in the cylinder head.
  3. Remove the camshaft cover seals.

To install:
  1. Lightly coat the new seals, including the O-rings, with engine oil prior to the installation to assist in holding the O-ring seals to the valve cover.
  2. Install the valve cover seals.
  3. Apply a thin coat of silicone sealer LOCTITE®5900 or equivalent at the front and at the back of the seals.
  4. Install the valve cover to the cylinder head.
  5. Install the valve cover bolts.
  6. Tighten the camshaft cover bolts to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm).
