Where is this harness located? Is there anyway you could take a picture of it and post the link in here?

Re: hanging out Sign In

Gotta help us hep you sport. There is probably 6-8 miles of wiring in that car so it will be needed to focus on just what and where. Sorry some dink head stole it from you which can make it harder to fix now,

Re: hanging out Sign In

Since you're in the parking lot.....what you can do is look at the harness and see if there is any connecters on it that are unplugged from something......

If you can see the ign switch....make sure there is something plugged into it.....I suppose it's possible they unplugged the switch & were trying to jump the connecters to get it to crank & start...

Re: hanging out Sign In

If you could upload a few clear and well-lit pics of this to an image hosting site like photobucket and paste the links into your next post that would substantially help us to help you figure out what this guy did and how he did it. I'm guessing he's not very good at it, as the car is still there. That crap you see in movies of guys hotwiring a car in a minute touching wires to each other is just hollywood. It doesn't work like that. Pros break the column or use a key-type device to actuate the ignition tumbler just like the key does. Some makes are easier to do this to than others by their design. I could start an older Ford pickup in less than a minute and a half if I wanted to with just a screwdriver, pliers and a medium sized ball-pein hammer for instance. Not so if I tried to monkey with the wiring.

Re: hanging out Sign In

Cops don't fingerprint anything for cases like this. Its an expensive process and takes months to get results back due to delays in crime labs. I hope this mechanic you take it to can set things right on it without breaking the bank, especially with this being an older car.

I would suggest two things to keep around the house so this isn't a trouble in the future. A full-sized dog and a full-sized gun. If you have either of those you'll find nobody wants to mess with you.

We will be here next time you drop in. Good luck to you.
