I have toyota pick up truck 1992 model, 122k mi.MANUAL TRANSMISSION. i never been change the master cylinder or never had any major problem yet. but now I have hard time of shifting the 1st. gear every time I start to move. and aLSO WHEN i START TO DO BACKING UP OR SHIFT IT TO REVERSE, MOST OF THE TIMES IF I DIDNT PRESS TWICE THE CLUTCH CREATES GRINDING SOUND. MIGHT BE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDS TO CHANGE OR SLAVE CYLINDER OR BOTH NEEDS TO BE REPLACE.YOUR OPINION IS HIGHLY APPRECIATED. i THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR READING MY PROBLEM.

Try bleeding the system until you have nothing other then clean fluid in the system. Sometimes after a few years, sludge will build up in the system, which will reduce the capacity of the master or the slave cylinders; a good flush may bring it back. If not you haven’t lost anything because you would have had to flush the system before installing a new component. Dan. Canadian "EH"
