head gasket repair cost Sign In

it is a 1997 pontiac firebird
3.8 liter V6
it has a blown head gasket and i was wondering what it would cost to replace?
also i heard about somthing called steel seal, will that work and if so, how will it hold up?

There is no such thing as "mechanic in a can" so forget the snake oil fixes. You aren't going to know the cost until it's disassembled an the heads are sent to the machine shop for testing and repair to determine the degree of damage. You're probably starting around $1,000.


P:S. make sure that your problem is not just a bad intake or intake gasket. That's common on older 3.8s
