Hi All,

I have just bought a second hand fiesta. The car seems to be in reasonable shape and has a full service history. However I have noticed that the engine is making quite a distinctive hissing sound. This has been bugging me for a few days, but today I was finally able to get to the bottom of where the sound is coming from.

After removing the large plastic air filter box from the top of the engine, I was able to see the silver fuel rail running horizontally along the front of the engine. On the left side it connects to a fuel supply hose via a push fit connector with white clips. On the right it connects to the fuel return hose via another push fit connector with red clips.

The problem is that when the car is running a loud hissing sound comes from the joint between the fuel return hose connector and the fuel rail. It sounds like air is being drawn in through the fitting. If I wiggle the fitting around the sound of the airflow changes, it is also noticeable that the fitting is much looser than the equivalent connector on the other side.

I would like to replace the fitting (but hopefully not the whole hose) with a new one in the hope that this solves the problem.

Has anybody come across an issue like this before?

Edit: I have just heard back from Ford. They do not supply the clip fitting seperately, only the whole fuel hose for £40 plus VAT. My only worry is that I have no idea how the hose fits to the fuel tank. If it was a clip fitting, that would be fine. Anything else and I may quickly find myself out of my depth.... and then my wife would probably murder me.

I would love to know if anyone has any thoughts on this.... help
