loose spark plug Sign In

2003 3500 chevy express van
6.0 125,000

Got truck scanned at Auto zone. Came up with random misfires. Started pulling plugs and the last plug I pull was very loose could this be my culprit?

Re: loose spark plug Sign In

It is possible, but if it were that loose, I'm pretty certain that you would have been hearing an exhaust leak. Not sure if this is a 'coil over' type. Examine the plug wire and/or coil for heat damage if it was that loose. If it were just that one cylinder, you should have come up with a P0308 if it were cyl.#8, P0302 if #2, ect. There are many things that can cause P0300. Underhood temps in vans are generally quite high and hard on the secondary components. If it uses spark plug wires, I'd recommend replacing them with the plugs.

Re: loose spark plug Sign In

I thank you for all your responses. As I learned in the past start with the easy things then work up. It ended up being the loose plug. Took truck on long ride and it had more pep than previous and no check engine light, and you were right I was hearing an exhaust leak. Again thanks for the responses.
great website
