lower arm brushes Sign In

I have just had a free health check carried out by a ford dealer on my ford ka. 54 reg. and have been told that the o/s/f+n/s/f lower arm brushes are split and need replacing at a cost of £315.79. what are thease and how important is this? what function do they perform? and am i being ripped off?

Anne; Are you referring to lower control arm bushings? Yes, they are important. They would have to be pretty bad to constitute a safety issue, but can definitely cause premature tire wear, steering pull, braking pull, ect. Most any repair shop should be able to do this for you, so might want to get a second opinion and estimate.
