the right side catalitic converter is making a rattling noise is this some thing that is going to hurt something or just be annoying noise thanks it is on 2002 chevy tahoe

Take a look at it. Is this a heat sheild problem or sometimes a bolt or two at connection with a gasket can break??

If the rattle is internal, yes, you may have a problem "down the road". The 'honeycomb' material that the inerds are made of can break off, causing the rattle. If a piece of that becomes lodged in the exhaust end, it can plug the exhaust and cause a severe loss of power. Unfortunately, these cats (one on each bank) are a one-piece unit and VERY expensive. Until the blockage happens, it's just an annoyance for the time being.

Noise just started yesterday. It is internal. We were planning on leaving on a 7 hour road trip pulling a trailer. So in other words, It might not be best to go?????

Well, if you are going fishing or golfing or snowmobiling, absolutely, GO. Otherwise, your call. Seriously, though, a plugged cat generally won't leave you stranded. Just may take a while to get where you're going. I'd get it replaced before a long trip.

thanks for the info and were going racing in mississippi its about 7 hour away just dont have time to fix it and go so i may have to skip this race
