odd problem starting jeep Sign In

Hey all, I have a 2003 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. Last week I jumped another car with it. I turned mine off to disconnect the cables, and afterwards it wouldn't start. I drive it everyday to and from work and then some. In the past 8 Days I Have had it not start on me 5 times randomly here and there. The battery seems fine, the lights and radio come on and the battery gauge is at about 13. Using a battery tester, it tested fine. I can pop the clutch and get it going every time, but jumping it does no good at all. When attempting to start it, the car doesn't even attempt to turn over. No response from the engine at all. I can take it in, I just have no luck when problems are seemly random and sporadic, so I thought I'd look around for some advice first.

I'd take your battery in and get it load tested. Just because it tests fine with a meter doesn't mean it can handle a load. Jumping that other car might've fried your battery. Your best bet is to always use a jumper pack instead of jumping with another vehicle. A lot of times people get away without anything happening but it can also cause problems such as frying the battery or even your computer.

Turns out the starter was bad. Replaced it this weekend and things are running great.

Glad it's fixed. MG was spot on with using a jumper box, pack instead of your vehicle on almost anything. Not so sure your symptoms were a result of that or not but don't argue with a fix.

Still, if you only get 13V running with nothing on in this that's too low to me. A cheap load test is just watch with a fast volt meter how much it drops while cranking. If all is good I'll say below 9.5V shown is an alarm that it lacks the amps but still can start and many do but worth checking out,
