i have a 1992 chevy cheyanne, 4.3 6 cyl with 125,000 miles. the vehicle has been sitting for about a month and started just fine before that. it will turn over and i smell gas but will not fire. several years ago i had the same problem and the mechanic said it was a module that went bad, not sure what module it was. i am trying to get the truck running for my 16 year old that starts driving in 2 months. God help me there, anyway any help would be appreciated.

Try clear flooding; Don't 'pump' the throttle. Hold it to the floor while cranking. By doing this, you are doing two things: Shutting off the flow of fuel to the injectors and opening the throttle plates, giving it more air. It is entirely possible that it may be so severely flooded that you'll have to either remove and dry, or replace, the spark plugs assuming it is getting spark to the plugs. If it isn't, check the distributor cap and rotor for moisture or carbon tracking. Once you do get it running, I'd recommend having the oil and filter changed, regardless of when the last change was.
