i have a 2006 ford expedition. it has 113 thousand miles on it. The car itself when up to high speeds runs and shifts perfect. changed the coils and plugs. got the cadillac converter check and its fine... u joints are fine... idle is fine....the sypmotoms of the car are... when comeing from a stop and going around 30mph the cars rpms go up and down up and down... then the car starts to heavyly vibrate (sometimes mild) it is almost as if you are riding on the side of the interstate on the ridges that are their to keep truck drivers alarmed, but after i let off the gas it goes away and then i go about my way.. when you dog it everything is fine.. tranny shifts fine perfect. just when going slow speed... it makes a loud hummm and vibration... i could have swore this was a u joint connected to drive shaft.. but went to the repair shop and he says they are fine.... i really need to figure out the problem... do you think it could be the torque converter? or something wrong with the tranny.. im in a bind i need to figure out what is going on because regraurdless i have to still drive because it is the only one i have.. i just dont want to make a bigger mess out of this esp if it is a easy fix.... which is wat im soooo hopeing for.. thanks _lyndsey also engine size is 5.4 l and its a 2x2 symptoms are off and on.. doesnt always happen.. and as long as i dont stay at slow speeds it works perfect..

As a test and only a test situation, get some Trans Medic anti shudder. If it helps, the torque converter is getting ready to fail. Also, you may have a coil failing. If you have access to a scan tool or know someone that does, look under the Mode $06 tests number 53. That is cylinder misfires. Try the scan tool first. Hey W2O.... I know you have an IDS so you don't need mode $06 but 4 us poor folks.... Snap On bundle 10.2 now has a live misfire counter for Fords (doing a happy dance, no more mode $06) and way too much other stuff to list...... By far the most impressive update I've ever got...........

You really need to have it diagnosed by someone with the proper scan tool to find where the problem is. There is a possibility the torque converter is the problem, from the description of your symptom it seems like the torque converter is full of dirt causing the shudder. A transmission flush might help. I think the flush costs somewhere around the $100 range. Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
