power windows Sign In

having a lit'l trouble here. All four of my power windows quit. Checked the manual and it says that my windows are on a power breaker in the driver side fuse panel. There is no power breaker on the driver side fuse panel. There is a relay but no breaker. Any ideas??

There are way too many names for the same things in English. Find that part and for a test swap it with only an identicle A/C one and if you are up and running that's it. I would call it a relay, T

Year, Make & Model would go a long way in helping us, help you.
I don’t think there are two manufacturers that do anything exactly the same way. Let alone the differences between years & models of the same manufacturer.
A lot of people believe a car is a car is a car they have wheels and take you places so their workings must be the same or at least close?
Well there not; close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
To me, that’s what makes my trade so interesting; things are similar and different all at the same time.

2003 Chevy Impala is baby. I check the button every now and then just to see if it would work and it makes a hum like it wants to work but thats it.

I looked in every fuse panel on the car and I can't find that power breaker. I'm not giving up yet.

Dan, my car is a 2003 chevy impala. In the manual it says that my windows are on a power breaker located in the drivers side fuse panel but it is not there. There is not even a spot for the breaker. Was it a misprint ya think?

The power windows receive their power from the retained accessory power breaker.
The retained accessory power is designed to allow you to operate accessories like your windows and radio or whatever after you’ve turn off the ignition; that’s until you open the drivers door.
Does your radio still play when you shut off the car until you open the door? If so then we know that the retained power relay and breaker are still working and is not the problem with the windows.
Assuming the radio does work in this manner; I would pull the driver’s master window switch and test if there is power on the yellow wire.
If there is power on the yellow wire, I would test that the switch has its ground through the black wire. All window motors are powered and grounded through the master switch.
The power feed (yellow Wire) and the ground (black wire) are common to all windows so with you saying that all the windows stopped functioning at the same time is why I want you to make sure we have both power and ground. Sorry to keep repeating this but that’s how important they are!
Use a test light to test for this we want to make sure that there is a load on the circuit while you’re testing. I would even try working the switch buttons while I had the test light clipped to a known good ground and the probe touching the yellow wire. The light should stay lit regardless of what button you push. The same goes for the black wire when you have the test light clipped to a power source and the probe on the black wire.
I’ll stop here there’s no sense in going any further until you can tell me if you have both power and ground to the master switch.
I will say that if you do have power and ground that it’s likely the master switch but there’s a couple of things you can do to confirm this.
