Is this a long time history of using just twice a week or in storage for some reason? At the age it's open book. Try to isolate whether it's lack of fuel or spark while it's down to narrow it down,

OK: I suggest having with you some starting fluid to spray in throttle body and a spark tester at a plug when it definitely is acting up. If starting fluid makes it fire up if only a few seconds it's a fuel issue and if no spark seen we chase that down.

Of course checking spark by cranking engine will require a helper or jump the solenoid with key in "run" position to make it crank and look for spark,

Definitely need to find out what is missing as Tom suggested....

If you jump the starter solenoid make sure the truck is in park or if this is a manual tranny, definitely in neutral with the prk brk on. This bypasses everything and the truck could lurch when jumped............

Thanks Sidom! I messed up with that suggestion without adequate warnings of a safety issue. Jeez - even real shops have had vehicles take off on them testing stuff out. Vehicle MUST be securely in park or neutral if std shift, parking brake working and on hard and if in doubt on anything about it DON'T!

Naw, you didn't mess up Tom, that was a good suggestion and I'm sure Mason43 and the 90% of the other readers who will read this, are probably already aware of this.

That was just for the other 10% who will read this thread, I figured we better put in on of those basic type warnings, like what was being debated in that other thread.

I'm just trying to figure out what type of a slash circle or stick man warning would work for this..... Maybe a little stick man running from his truck with a screwdriver in his hand? Sly
