hi there, Im attempting to repair my old vw camper but i have difficulty in identifying a coating/product used on the bottom section of all the panels. I describe the the coating as having an effect like fine sand, which has been painted with the same colour as the rest of the vehicle(i presume its some kind of chip or rust protection). I simply dont know what the accurate description is for it so i cant seem to locate it in car supply shops. any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi The only thing i can think of is a "rubberized undercoating".. It does leave a textured finish and is paintable...Not sure if this is what you're referring to or not! Click on this link...I dont endorse this product ,just one that i found.....I have used a few different kinds in the past with good results..but i have always used it for underbody application. Hope this is what your looking for... Check with a local body shop too! Jim
