Hi, I have a mazda 323f, when I engage 1st gear and try to pull off the car stalls, any ideas why? ( yes I have released the handbrake!)

Check the accordion bellows ductwork between the air cleaner and engine; I’ve seen these split allowing air to enter the engine without going through the MAF (mass air flow) sensor. Why the cars that I’ve seen stall with this duct split is that when you accelerate away from a stop the engine torque (twist) will pull on the ductwork opening up the split. The MAF cannot sense this false air and allows the engine to become to lean (not enough fuel) and in turn stalls out. Just a guess and of course disregard if this car doesn’t have a MAF. Dan.
