Hi I have a 2.9l 1988 ford ranger pickup. I have gone through a couple starters for it and was told I probably needed a shim but they don't make them for this modle anymore. Any tips on how to make one ? The flywheel isn't to bad and I don't want to keep going through starters. Anything will help.

I'm not aware of them ever making them for a Ford. That was a GM thing. You must have the wrong flywheel, damaged flywheel or wrong starter. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
