Need to clarify something, please.

Is the engine cranking? That means the starter motor is turning the engine over.

Starting means the engine is cranking, but the engine won't run.

Starting and cranking mean two different things to most techs.

Is the theft light on or flashing? Does it have spark?

There should be an security or theft indicator where the gauges. If the security light is on or flashing, the engine will crank, but won't start. This is because the passlock system is active and is not allowing fuel to the engine via the fuel injectors. Look in your owners manual for the exact location of the security light.

You need to check for spark while cranking using some type of spark tester. Check for spark after the coil and after the distributor on the plug wires. Spark should be able to easily jump a one inch gap.
