The hose connection on the top side of the compressor has broken. Is the repair as simple as replacing the hose & recharging the system?

If the broken part is the hose a new hose or set should solve that. A well held vacuum and recharge should do it. It's an estimate at best but some oil must be lost so add a couple oz for the job.

A specialty shop may be able to replace just the hose end if there is enough hose for that.

If it holds the vacuum it should hold a charge, T
