96 Neon No defrost Sign In

Have 96 Plymouth Neon that the control for the door to direct air flow from floor to defrost is stuck. All of my air or heat comes out the air cond vents in the front of the dash. The cable or trap door seems stuck. I can not find the trap door. I have pulled the dash apart at the controls but can not budge the cable. I can not find or follow the cable to the trap door. Dont know how to find it. Under the hood?? Under the dash?? Can find no diagrams any place. Dont want to just start tearing things apart. Can anyone please lead me to proper way to fix this?? Thank you!

NOTE: The Mode Control Cable can be removed and installed without having to remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.

REMOVAL
  1. Remove instrument panel upper cowl panel.

2 . Remove right side upper instrument panel bezel.

3 . Remove center vent duct.

4 . Remove upper defrost duct.

5. Remove inner defrost duct.
6. Disconnect cable at heater unit.
7. Disconnect cable at control panel.
8. Remove cable from vehicle.

WOW! Looks like you must remove air bag cover as well?? Then whole upper dashboard from what I can make out from drawings. Hopefully all just snaps together like everything else in this vehicle. I have searched for days for illustrations like this and just dead ends!

Thank you so much for locating and sharing them with me. I am sure once I get back inside the car and start tearing it apart it will make a lot more sense than it does now just looking at it.

Thanks again!!Sly
