HI, I HAVE A 99 MERCURY COUGAR, IT USUALLY CAN'T GO A DAY WITHOUT OVERHEATING. NOT MORE THAN 30 MILES. I THINK IT MIGHT BE THE THERM. BUT I CAN'T FIND IT. CAN YOU GIVE ME A HINT. THANKS JANET

First make sure cooling system is full of coolant at both radiator and recovery tank. Is this overheating just high on the gauge or boiling over?

Does this Cougar use electric fans or is it the RWD type with fan clutch? I don't know that car by the year. Fans must be working and coolant full. Thermostats can fail but they usually are not the problem and if you try that use original equipment parts only,
