A/C CompressorNoise Sign In

I have a 99 Maxima with 118k miles....
My A/C works fine, but when the A/C is in the'off position, I hear a loud noise coming from the compressor.
When I turn the A/C to the 'on' position, the noise seems to disappear....
Any ideas ??

Re: A/C CompressorNoise Sign In

That's an indication of a bad compressor clutch bearing.

Today it's sometimes cheaper to just get a complet new compressor.
