A/C blower

I own a 1996 Chevy Suburban Silverado and I'm having problems with my A/C blower as follows: when the A/C is on the cold air comes out on the floor but when it is off the air comes out on top, but hot also the blower never shuts off it always is on at low speed. I checked for cracked vacuum hoses and found none. I think it has to be either a A/C relay, or the blower resistance but in iether case I have no idea where they are located to check them any ideas? Please help I'm dying without my A/C.

I can't think of a common denominator for the two problems here?? Did this problem happen all at once? I doubt this could just be a relay but hang in there -- someone here may have the solution or If I don't see it I will send you on to two dedicated A/C only sites, T

No the A/C use to work fine the blower use to erratically change from hi to low but it always remained on the top vents, sometime last month it would switch from the bottom vent to the top vent. It was last week that when I turn the A/C on the air goes to the bottom vent but if I turn the a/c off the air returns to the top vents. Like I said before there are no vacuum leaks that I could detect, the blower is working fine I think it has to do with an electronic component that is acting up or failing.

I don't know of these cars to cause a lot of problems with the blower or distribution box. The default for air flow is usually defrost ducts in most cars. That is usually a problem with vacuum source. I'm at a loss with this so I will mention two dedicated A/C sites: WWW.autoACsystems.com --Bob there is a Chevy freak and moderator. WWW.ACsource.com -- Nacho is moderator there and a total A/C guru and lots of folks there are from hot climates and do this stuff constantly. Both are sign up sites like this one which is only really to keep them clean. If you go it's still better to post where all can see it. Sites need to cooperate and these should. Say you are from CarJunky and use my name if you want, Good luck and please let us know how it's going, T
