Ac making puffing noise

Just bought a used 2016 kia forte 5. When I turn the ac on it blows cold but what I "assume" must be the compressor makes a continious puffing sound. I tried to Goggle but their wasn't much info in the way of puffing noises. Can someone tell me possible causes what things I can look for myself

Nobody is going to accurately identify a sound from that description.

Try to isolate the source of the sound and make a close up recording that you can post here.

Is this new to you? IDK it needs an A/C tech to hear it in person if normal or not?
For what it's worth IDK of a vehicle today where odd noises are normal so have it heard in person. Web prob can't do it or guess as it's working, Tom
